Reflection in Purpose, within my black-and-white portfolio, represents the sense of purpose and structure that I bring to the world. Some mirrors show blank reflections, while others consist of myself. The blank mirrors symbolize the loss of purpose or direction with my efforts to contribute to the fight for justice by utilizing art history. On the other hand, the mirrors reflecting myself determine my motivation and signify that, through art history and social art, I become the ideal person I wish to be. This piece is a little more self-representative of my passions regarding art history and justice, and the motivation for Art From Our World. It was an earlier piece and represented the frustrations that I had with being able to make such a small difference within the fields that I wanted to explore. However, if I were to create a sequel to this charcoal drawing, I would define more of my expression and self within the mirrors to convey my evolvement and confidence in my field.
